Miss Orlando Carnival Pageant 2008 Print E-mail
The 2nd Annual Miss Orlando Carnival Pageant was held in the Florida Hotel at Orlando’s Florida Mall on the evening of April 12, 2008, and the Pageant People editorial team was on the scene.

Nine contestants took the stage to vie for the title, and the pageant sentiment was to promote cultural enrichment, scholastic achievement, and the educational aspirations of its participants. Prior to the pageant the young ladies were given the opportunity to travel to Miami and beyond, including distant locations like Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados for the chance to meet with members of the Consulate.

dsc_0028.jpgCompetition categories included Carnival Costume, Interview, Evening Wear, and Talent. The charismatic DJ Kevy Kev hosted the event, and the capacity crowd included several distinguished members of the local Caribbean community and a celebrity judging panel that included local newscasters Charnel Wright and Laverne McGee.

Highlights of the pageant were the costume and talent competitions. It was an evening filled with dynamic entertainment, incredible performances, and an infectious energy that spread throughout the room. The costumes were vibrantly colorful, and the engaging talent presentations ranged dsc_0043_crop.jpgfrom singing and dancing to dramatic performance and musical instruments.

The top 5 finalists placed as follows:
Winner: Arielle Hosein
First Runner up: Tiffany Irizarry
Second Runner up: Leshaun Clayton
Third Runner up: Jashanah Griffith
Fourth Runner up: Charelle Bellenger

The Miss Orlando Carnival Pageant was an enjoyable event honoring cultural diversity and community collaboration. The members of this organization have much to be proud of, and we hope to see them on the pageant scene for years to come!

The Miss Orlando Carnival Pageant is one of many events leading up to the 21st annual 2008 Orlando Carnival on Memorial Day Weekend, May 23rd through May 25th 2008. The theme of this year’s Carnival is Caribbean Unity. For more information visit the Orlando Carnival Association:
