California Sweeps Natural Beauty Pageant USA

Crowne Plaza Hotel on July 23, 2006.   Contestants from preliminaries as well as

entrants at large competed for the national titles.  Contestants enjoyed a day

of thrills and excitement at Paramount’s Great America theme park on Saturday

before competing in the pageant on Sunday.

At orientation, each contestant received a goody bag with a copy of Pageantry

Magazine and various other gifts. The morning began with a “one on one” with the

judges.  After the interviews, the optional talent portion began. After a short

break,  the entrants competed in sportswear modeling and formalwear modeling on

the runway.  The pageant concluded with each delegate answering an onstage

question.  Director April Mason was assisted during the pageant by Miss Preteen

Natural Beauty USA 2005 Brittany Nolen.

The judges included  Suzanne Glover, the owner of Star Potential, of Santa Rosa,

CA, and make up artist Meka Hall of San Francisco, CA.

After a few anxious moments, the awards were presented. Erin Hagerty was

unanimously voted the winner of the Spirit of Pageantry award by her fellow

contestants.  The Director’s Choice award went to Lauren Saria for her great

potential on the runway. Other optional winners included Katy Rose for Talent

and Erin Hagerty for Talent, Photogenic and Essay.

After the optional awards were given, the crownings took place. Lauren Saria of

Gold River, CA was named Miss Teen Natural Beauty USA, Katy Rose of Carmichael,

CA was chosen Miss Natural Beauty USA and Erin Hagerty of Fairfield, CA was awarded

Mrs. Natural Beauty USA.

All winners received hand crafted plaques, flowers, hand embroidered sashes and

custom jeweled tiaras, Cookie Lee jewelry, $100.00 savings bonds, a year’s

subscription to Pageantry Magazine and satin totes. The winners will be making

personal appearances at parades and charity events during the next year.

Systems and also competes in Mrs. division pageants when she has time.  April is

also the director of the New Starz Talent Competition and a Cookie Lee Jewelry

Senior Consultant. She is married and has two cats and a dog.
